Virus and Malware Protection
Keep your users safe by preventing the installation of malicious apps which can steal your data and cause you unwanted costs.
Antivirus Protection
As the most popular mobile platform, Android has become a target for cybercriminals. Third-party app stores pose the greatest risk, but over the past two years, Google has also had to remove numerous apps from their store. And usually after many devices had already been infected. Although security has been stepped up, new malicious apps targeting Android devices are detected every day by SophosLabs. Nearly all of them aim to steal data from a device or cause you some kind of costs.
Sophos Mobile Security is a lightweight app which gives you an antivirus functionality for your Android devices. It makes sure the apps your users install - and those already on their device or SD card - are safe to use and won't harm your business.
Keeping your malware data up to date
An anti-malware app isn't nearly as effective if users don't keep the data up to date. Malware is always changing, meaning having the current data is crucial.
Sophos Mobile Security uses data from the cloud provided by SophosLabs, called Sophos LiveConnect. The specialists around the globe constantly monitor threat data for every platform and every kind of device. But Sophos also know that your users are not always in one place. So, they've made it easy for you to block the cloud look-up when users are roaming outside of their network or home country. Helping you keep your costs under control.
Sophos LiveConnect is the same award-winning technology used for many other Sophos products, including Sophos EndUser Protection.
Privacy Advisor
Mobile apps work with permissions. Know that the permission is necessary for the app to work before granting it access. Check before giving an app access to your address book or allowing it to place phone calls or send SMS texts.
Sophos Mobile Security categorises your users apps using the familiar traffic light colors. Your users get an immediate overview of which apps pose a potential threat by accessing personal data or using services which can incur costs. The user can filter their apps in categories such as:
Protection from USSD hacks
Cyber criminals constantly find new ways to exploit weaknesses in any platform. A number of Android users have fallen victim to an attack via USSD code, making their device do a factory reset. USSDs are special codes used for many functions. In many countries, they are used as the codes for performing tasks like checking the amount of credit you have left on your phone.
Sophos Mobile Security checks these codes against threat data and warns your users before executing the code. The user can confirm whether they want to continue or block the code.
Web protection
The web is the number one source of malware data. Businesses around the globe protect their users from web threats by using Sophos technology. But what about your mobile users?
SophosLabs analysts constantly monitor threats from the web, discovering numerous malicious websites every single day. You already protect your users from these threats on their desktops and PCs. Now, Sophos can also offer you protection for your Android users.
Sophos Mobile Security allows you to set the level of web protection in the Sophos Mobile Control console. If one of your users tries to visit a site with a known threat, they receive a warning directly on their device.
This feature is only available in the Enterprise version of the Mobile security app.
