Popular kids on the block: Form & Particular
We’ve added your favorite Particular 2 features, like Textured Polygons, Streaklets, Shading and Shadowlets. These popular features and their familiar layout give you an improved workflow and a more streamlined design experience. If you already love Particular, then you will be instant Qfriends with Form 2.
Give any shape to your Base Form
In Form 2, the base shape for your particles is unlimited. That’s right, folks... NO LIMITS. The Form 1 base shapes of grid, sphere and rectangle are still available. But you now have complete control over the Base Form with improved options for custom shapes, and the new OBJ importer loads in any 3D model or 3D animation.
Animation ecstasy with new Particle Types
Two new Particle Types give birth to awesome animation. Streaklet particles can generate intricate organic designs like ribbons and light trails. Textured Polygons load in any image as the particle source and let you rotate and shade those particles in 3D, for animated sequences like falling leaves and twisting snowflakes.
Deeper control with Layer Maps
We added advanced options to give you deeper control over Layer Maps. You can now apply layer maps to 3D Base Forms like OBJ models and Sphere Layered objects. The new Rotation Layer Map lets you control the orientation of your particles, and an Invert Map checkbox saves you from the hassle of additional pre-comps.
Natural shading with Shadowlets
The new Shadowlet rendering lets particles cast shadows onto other particles, adding realistic shadowing from a single light source. Combined with the new dynamic light falloff support for After Effects lights, your particles and composites look better than ever.
Let audio take control
Built-in Audio Reactors generate mind-blowing visuals. Use the Audio Reactors to easily apply variables like motion, dispersion, size and twist so your particles organically react to the frequencies you desire. Tap your fingers to the beat as water droplets ripple to a bass guitar, or Streaklets pulsate to your subject’s voice.
Get the 3D party started
Because it does so much, Form 2 has alotta parameters. We aim to get you kickstarted with the new 3D tools. Animator Harry Frank’s professional presets quickly load in primitive 3D OBJ forms for a creative starting point, and his free video tutorials give a great introduction to using Form.
