CA ARCserve D2D is a new disk-based backup solution that makes protecting and recovering your business data on both physical and virtual servers a snap. An innovative Web 2.0 interface proactively feeds you updates that help you confidently meet and manage your recovery SLAs. It is the only product that has Bare Metal Restore to dissimilar hardware and block-level infinite incremental snapshots, based on CA’s patent pending I2 Technology. CA ARCserve D2D is also integrated with CA ARCserve Backup, or may be used with any backup solution for non-disruptive backups.

Integrated access to cloud storage

Integrated access to Windows Azure storage and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) via the CA ARCserve D2D user interface to enable access to cloud storage as a file copy or archive destination. CA ARCserve Central Protection Manager

Provides a single web-based console for a centralised view and management of all servers and workstations protected by CA ARCserve D2D. It includes automated Active Directory discovery, remote deployment, simplified policy-based administration, Storage Resource Manager (SRM) reporting, status, grouping, search and restore, basic workflow and event logging.

CA ARCserve Central Reporting

Provides a centralised view, administration and reporting on all devices, settings and policies running on-premise and off-premise that are protected by CA ARCserve Backup and CA ARCserve D2D. It gives detailed reports, as well as a rollup Dashboard report view, so you can easily understand what is happening across your environment.

CA ARCserve Central Host-based VM backup

Uses a single copy of CA ARCserve D2D to protect a single VMware host environment, performing backup of all VMs via a single-pass backup without having to install CA ARCserve D2D inside each VM. It uses the VMware vSphere™ Changed Block Tracking (CBT) feature to capture the changes since the last backup and enables recovery of the entire virtual guest, or granular recovery of files and folders from each VM. It can also restore supported applications running within a VM.

CA ARCserve Central Virtual Standby

Makes CA ARCserve D2D backups available to run like regular VMware Virtual Machine Disk (VMDK) or Microsoft Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) virtual servers. It automatically pre-registers each recovery point with the hypervisor for immediate recovery as a VM if a system outage occurs. In addition, it enables physical-to-virtual (P2V) and virtual-to-virtual (V2V) migration. Copies of VMs can be used for pre-fiight deployment, software installations and upgrade testing when desired.

Block Level Infinite Incremental Backup

Like deduplication, this patent-pending technology uses less storage space, performs backups faster and puts less of a load on your production servers. Disk-to-disk backups are based on CA’s block-level I2 Technology that has been designed to intelligently manage backing up only blocks of data that have changed since the last backup and presenting a consolidated point-in-time view of the protected volume for multiple recovery types.

Protection for Virtual Servers

Provides a single user interface to help protect virtual servers as well as physical servers, saving training time and simplifying operations. Block-level I2 Technology helps reduce backup time, storage space, network usage, workload on the production servers and recovery time for virtualised servers.

Single Snapshot Backup with Four Restore Types

Provides the ability to rapidly restore files, volumes, databases, or the entire system to any server in both physical and virtual environments from a single pass backup. One snapshot helps ensure recovery of the data in the most efficient manner.

Bare Metal Recovery to Dissimilar Hardware

Bare Metal Restore offers a lightning-fast way to recover a crashed server to the same or dissimilar hardware. It simply paints the picture of the original drive back onto the new drive and restarts the system – reducing a process that can potentially take as long as 36 hours to just minutes.
