CA ARCserve High Availability, formerly known as CA XOsoft High Availability, helps keep your business running at full speed with less downtime from unplanned and planned outages and makes continuous data protection easier than ever. It ensures availability of your most critical applications including: Microsoft Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, IIS, and Dynamics CRM as well as Oracle and Blackberry Servers. CA ARCserve High Availability provides true unified management and support for Windows, Linux and UNIX servers, as well as applications and data in both physical and virtualised environments. CA ARCserve High Availability complements whatever backup solution you use today to provide a complete strategy for managing your backup, recovery and 24 X 7 availability.

New in CA ARCserve Replication and High Availability r16.5

Introduces new support for Windows Server 2012:

• New support for Hyper-V 3.0.
• New Cascading High Availability where you can configure a failover scenario to more than one replica server.
• Integration with CA ARCserve Central Host-based VM Backup enables replication of host-level backups (all VMs) to any remote site.
• Better SQL Server protection with SQL Server Filestreams support where all BLOB data is automatically discovered and replicated.

Other non-Windows enhancements include:

• Gain better Linux protection with Linux Global Mount to be able to support multiple file systems under the same directory and support overlapped root directories in replication and HA scenarios.
• Enhanced Oracle system and data protection includes Multiple Instance Support that enables replication and HA scenarios for multiple Oracle systems installed on a single Windows Server using auto discovery for easy deployment.

Full system replication and high availability

Replicates a complete Windows-based system including the operating system, system state, application and data to an offline Replica server running VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V Server or Citrix XenServer. Includes server and application monitoring with automated and push-button failover that automatically stands up the Replica server for high availability.

Amazon Cloud (Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)) Integration

Enables the use of Amazon’s data center and resources for the Replica server to replace capital expenditure (CAPEX) with operational expenditure (OPEX) while benefiting from using a remote site with a defined service-level agreement (SLA) for disaster recovery (DR). Supports Windows Server 2003 32/64-bit and Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit.

Windows Server 2008 Failover Cluster Support

Complements a Windows Server failover cluster with data replication to any local or remote site, regardless of distance, for DR. Provides the data-mover capability for remote replication and helps to eliminate storage as a single point of failure. Integration with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager makes management faster and easier.

Secure Communication

Provides 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption across the network without the need for a virtual private network (VPN) or IPSec tunnel.

VMware vCenter Server v4 Support

Provides replication and failover for the VMware management system.
