So sánh PRTG và các giái pháp giám sát mạng

Bảng so sánh chi tiết các sản phẩm của PRTG

The first and most important difference from our point of view is that all our competitors offer a lot of tools and modules for many purposes, whilePRTGNetwork Monitor is a network and application monitoring solution that offers the entire monitoring functionality within every license - no add-ons, no modules required.

In terms of monitoring all these solutions offer comprehensive features and functionality, but in the way they work and are licensed there are some fundamental differences.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

1. Database

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

Our competitors use a SQL server,PRTGcomes with its own database. This database has been developed by Paessler as the SQL server hasn't been designed for monitoring data. Internal tests showed that our database is up to 300 times as fast as a SQL server when storing and accessing monitoring data.

The reason therefore is that the SQL server stores data anywhere, not in a chronological order - as our database does. Monitoring data come in chronologically and have to be used / published chronologically. ThusPRTGhas a much better performance for accessing data, reporting, and, first of all, we can store raw data for unlimited period, even for years and years without merging any data to any averages what monitoring tools using SQL servers have to do.

So you can get the original monitoring data from every period you had a monitoring running withPRTG.

Also there are no additional licenses needed and the database is installed with the software so there is nothing to configure or set up extra.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

2. Distributed Monitoring

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

If you want to monitor multiple locations,PRTGoffers so called remote probes. You can install a probe at another site - the probe will gather the data and send it to the core server. The core server will analyze the data, publish it and alert if necessary.

So you can monitor multiple locations with everyPRTGlicense, even with our freeware. You don't need any add-ons or multiple licenses

See this link for more information about the remote probes:

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

3. API

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

PRTGcomes with a documented, restFul API and so called custom sensors - that makes it very easy to build own sensors for special devices and tasks, but also to usePRTGdata for other tools and applications.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

4. Failover Cluster

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

EachPRTGlicense includes a full failover cluster. The failover node can be installed also in other networks, has its own database included and monitors not only in failover mode but constantly so that you get a second view on your network from a different perspective.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

5. Ease of Use

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

PRTGhas consequently been optimized for best usability.PRTGis installed in less than 10 minutes (try it!) and comes with an auto discovery and a configuration guru which makes the configuration process a very easy thing. Auto update functionality, our easy to use drag and drop map editor, the libraries and the multiple interface options (web interface, WIN GUI, iPhone app, Android app and HTML interface) – all this makes the administrator’s life a little easier…

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

6. Licensing

------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----

PRTGcomes with an all-inclusive licensing model: no add-ons, no extra costs. EachPRTGlicense comes with a full failover cluster, monitoring of multiple sites/locations/networks, included database, NetFlow, sFlow, and jFlow sensors, QoS monitoring, IP-SLA, packet sniffing, WMI, SNMP, and more than 150 predefined sensor types.

PRTGlicenses count by sensors - We define one (1) sensor as any particular, individual monitoring entity. One sensor monitors one network service, one URL, one network connection, one port of a switch, one NetFlow export stream, one CPU load, one disk drive, etc. Licensing by sensors gives you maximum flexibility. You can spread the sensors over devices and, using our remote probes, over networks, just as you need them. If you e.g. only want to monitor a device’s availability just add one Ping sensor for that device and that’s it. If you want to monitor the top talkers on a Cisco switch, just use one sensor as a NetFlow sensor on that switch. You don’t have to use a full device for that.

In standard monitoring scenarios we count an average of about 5 to 20 sensors per device based on our customer’s experience.
